Exploring different mediums was essential to this project. The final output needed to blend 3D animation, glitch typography and a live-action vlog footage seamlessly. Working across Unreal Engine and After Effects meant balancing two distinct workflows which are 3D rendering and post-production compositing.

The most difficult technical challenge was converting standard iPhone footage into a format suitable for dome projection. Traditional cameras don't capture spherical or fisheye footage, so I had to simulate the entire pipeline in post-production. The process involved converting footage to a 2:1 equirectangular projection, correcting orientation using VR Rotate Sphere, and mapping it into a 180° fisheye. Each step required careful adjustment to avoid pole distortion, horizon tearing, and unnatural curvature. Multiple tests were needed to achieve a clean conversion that felt natural in the dome.

Emotionally, the hardest challenge was capturing the essence of my Erasmus experience honestly. Erasmus wasn't just a trip, it was a meaningful chapter of my life, filled with new friendships, late-night conversations, spontaneous travel, and the thrill of living in a new country. Compressing that into a short memory clip required careful curation. I didn't want typical travel footage. I wanted to create the kind of memory you revisit years later where you remember the small, intimate moments that stay with you.

Creating a unified experience across both mediums required finding a visual language that connected the 3D world and the vlog. The glitch-text sequence became the bridge between these spaces. It marked the moment where the mind shifts from unconscious, dream-like perception to a concrete memory fragment. This unified the aesthetics and narrative structure, ensuring the mediums complemented rather than clashed with each other.
